For echocardiographic diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy there is a ‘grey zone’ in left ventricular thickness of 13 to 15 mm that exists between an extreme expression of athlete’s heart and mild hypertrophic cardiomyopathy phenotypes.
